Parking Assistant has been upgraded: as before, Parking Assistant helps you reverse into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces, but now it also helps you park in and move out of perpendicular parking spaces forwards with ease. The basic procedure remains the same: select the parking direction (backwards or forwards) when switching on Parking Assistant for a perpendicular parking space using the additional selection option on the control display.

Your BMW now recognizes that after completing the overtaking process on country roads and motorways, you want to return to your original lane. It therefore knows not to give you a lane departure warning when you merge back in.

This system does not replace your own responsibility to correctly assess visibility and traffic conditions. There is still a risk that accidents will occur. Adapt your driving style to traffic conditions. Observe what is going on in traffic and actively intervene in situations that call for it.

If you do not want the Lane Departure Warning system to intervene on a routine basis while you drive, you can now permanently turn this feature off in the Settings. The Lane Departure Warning system will remain disabled even after restarting your vehicle until you turn this feature back on yourself.

In affected vehicles, increased fuel input into the engine oil may occur in rare cases due to software that is not up to date. This is corrected by programming with the new software.

Potential functional limitations of Hill Descent Control are eliminated by this software update.

It's time to get excited: the engine starting sound has been refined, and there is now clearer audible feedback when shifting gears (in conjunction with 8-speed M Steptronic only) and changing load cycles. Configure the sound characteristics however you like using the “Efficient”/“Sport”/“Sport Plus” engine settings and select a driving mode that makes the vehicle more silent using the Sound Control button, thus making the M driving experience even more emotional.

This improvement makes it easier to control the volume in the vehicle when playing an audio stream (e.g. music, podcasts, etc.) using a smartphone connected via Bluetooth. After this upgrade, the Bluetooth volume for Android smartphones connected via Bluetooth will automatically be set to 100%. This lets you experience the full volume.

M Track mode brings you closer to that pure racing feeling than you've ever been. Enable M Track mode by pressing and holding the M Mode button. This disables all convenience and safety systems. Even the sound and navigation systems are switched off. You can then concentrate on what really counts: your BMW and the racetrack.

It may be the case that the vehicle's Surround View is not correctly positioned on the Central Information

Display (CID). Vehicles affected by the service campaign 0066490100 will be remedied by this RSU measure.

In extremely rare cases, it had been possible to lock the vehicle key in the boot. With this upgrade, vehicle keys can no longer be accidentally left in the boot under normal conditions. The vehicle now detects the key's location in the boot and prevents you from accidentally locking it in.

This upgrade eliminates known issues with the processing of cover art by the head unit in connection with Android 11 and AVRCP1.6 as an active Bluetooth protocol.

In affected vehicles, misfires may occur in rare cases due to out-of-date software. This is corrected by programming with the new software.

This software upgrade prevents the possible discharge of the vehicle battery due to malfunctions of the sunroof and sunblind.

A possible malfunction of the backup antenna is prevented with the new software.

With the BMW 5 Series / 6 Series LCI xDrive, the usual acceleration values may be slightly exceeded (up to at max. 10%). By programming the control units (DME), the faulty communication between the corresponding control units of the suspension and drive has been corrected.

Your driver profile will also load if you do not have your key at hand when you get in, such as when you place your bag on the passenger seat or back row of seats. You no longer have to manually select your profile before you set off.

Vehicles affected by the service campaign 0012470500 will be remedied by this RSU measure.
