LEAD THE WAY. AND LET THE WORLD FOLLOW.
BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps in the BMW X3.
Versatility is an integral part of the BMW X3. Whether for communication, information or entertainment – the innovative solutions from BMW ConnectedDrive allow you to experience mobility in an entirely new way.
INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL.
Intelligent emergency call permits fast, targeted assistance round-the-clock as well as support by trained staff – in the driver's native language, even abroad. If a serious accident takes place involving activation of an air bag or the belt tensioners, an intelligent emergency call is automatically issued. Relevant details such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW call centre via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independently of a private mobile phone. The BMW call centre will inform the nearest rescue coordination centre and provide assistance the over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually in case others on the road require help, for example.
CONNECTED DRIVE SERVICES.
ConnectedDrive Services provides the driver with a wide range of information, entertainment and service features on the road.
These include BMW Online, which gives access to current, localised information such as weather, news, online search and also office functions. It is also possible to assemble an individualised array of services such as webcams, parking information and travel or hotel guides.
This option also includes convenient, secure and unlimited access to smartphone apps such as BMW Connected. The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services offers many more such options, making every trip in a BMW a real driving experience.
BMW Connected App
Apps can now be conveniently accessed inside a BMW. The free BMW Connected app (available with Apple iOS and Android smartphones) allows social media and infotainment features such as Facebook, Twitter, web radio (web radio not available with the Android app) or a personal smartphone calendar to be used in the car. This option is only available in conjunction with ConnectedDrive Services.
When a smartphone is connected to the car with the snap-in adapter, compatible with a variety of mobile phones, or a smartphone USB cable, the user can conveniently access web radio stations from around the world (when using an Apple iPhone), the latest Facebook and Twitter status updates and any upcoming appointments via the iDrive system. These features are either displayed in the Control Display or read aloud over the speakers. Other features allow users to receive RSS news feeds and access Wiki Local, which provides Wikipedia information about the local area. The BMW Connected App also provides information about the current availability of "BMW Apps ready” apps (third-party apps).
MESSAGE DICTATION.
With the Navigation system Professional, a Bluetooth connection and BMW ConnectedDrive Services, picking up the phone is no longer necessary. All text can now be entered vocally. The message dictation allows spoken messages to be converted into text, which can then be sent as emails or text messages. The message dictation can also be used to compose Facebook and Twitter posts with BMW apps. The message dictation is available free of charge for the first 60 days, after which a fee-based contract with Nuance® is required.
More information on Bluetooth compatibility with smartphones and other mobile devices is available at www.bmw.com/bluetooth.
REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION.
Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides with the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details of the time and duration of hold-ups are relayed virtually in real time. The data is drawn from such sources as movement profiles from the mobile phone network, the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports. This data is analysed so precisely that it is possible to localise traffic congestion to the nearest few metres. This enables RTTI to provide information in real time on the current traffic situation on motorways, main roads, country roads and numerous urban routes, and to recommend sound alternative routes.
Only available in conjunction with the optional equipment ConnectedDrive Services.
REMOTE SERVICES.
With Remote Services, various functions can be operated from a distance. The direct transmission of selected destinations is also possible with an online search operated by GoogleTM. In addition, the car's location can be shown within a radius of 1.5 km. The car's owner can also easily open and close the BMW using a compatible smartphone. This option is only available in conjunction with BMW ConnectedDrive Services.
BLUETOOTH OFFICE.
Bluetooth Office allows to use time spent in the car more effectively. Via Bluetooth-enabled devices, daily work can be conveniently organised while on the go. E-mails, appointments, tasks and text messages are shown on the Control Display or read aloud over the audio speakers. It is also possible to display calendar entries from the Apple iPhone via BMW Apps. A list of all compatible mobile devices is available at www.bmw.com/bluetooth.
