The BMW M4 Competition Coupé sets the peak performance mark for the BMW 4 Series Coupé M Automobiles. Equipped with a 510-hp high-performance BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and numerous drivetrain and chassis technologies derived from motorsport, this sports coupé offers typical M driving dynamics at a supreme level. The optional all-wheel drive M xDrive* with Active M Differential guarantees maximum driving dynamics at all times both in everyday use and on the race track. A powerful design language at the front, side and rear alongside optional M specific Carbon features on the exterior and in the interior underline the athletic character of the vehicle.

The BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine features superior power delivery and the striking characteristic M engine sound. Two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct High-Precision Injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control ensure outstanding performance.
8-speed M Steptronic with Drivelogic.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: extremely dynamic, particularly comfortable and smooth, fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or select one of three automatic programmes using Drivelogic.
M xDrive.
M xDrive* with Active M Differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The optional M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD. *M xDrive is expected to be available in summer 2021.
M Carbon ceramic brake.
The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power more directly. It contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The technical equipment is visible through carbon-ceramic brake discs and calipers in the colour Gold matt with M lettering on the front and rear axle on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. The design-related noise can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long, low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt cause brake effectiveness to correspond to that of a conventional brake system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M Sport exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified via the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, which can be selected via the SETUP button, are accentuated by an even more intense engine sound, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.
Front design.
The front design of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé is a statement of technical purism. Placed at the centre is the bold character of the M kidney grille in a reduced interpretation for maximum dynamic effect. In a frameless design for the first time ever, the completely black kidney grille with horizontal M typical double louvres permits the maximum throughput of cooling air for the high-revving M power unit. Together with the narrow light tubes of the headlights, the large central air inlet with its trapezoidal shape impressively concludes the front design.
Side design.
The side view of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé conveys concentrated power and dynamics. The black carbon roof and the aerodynamically optimised sill area inspired by motorsport press the silhouette of the vehicle even closer to the road both optically and physically. The optional M specific exterior mirrors in carbon and the M gills with model logo impressively round off the sporty appearance alongside the distinctive M forged wheels.

CFRP roof.
As part of BMW's intelligent lightweight construction, the carbon roof made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) helps to reduce the car's mass, and shifts the car's centre of gravity lower. This leads to an increase in agility and dynamics when taking a bend, accelerating and braking.
Rear design.
The rear of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé testifies to its power and athleticism. Two M typical twin tailpipes protrude from the rear section as sporty statement – framed by an optional carbon diffuser with distinctive vertical fins. Surrounding the diffuser and emerging from the sill area is a black high-gloss surface that luxuriously frames this sporty element. At the edge of the tailgate an optionally available M rear spoiler in carbon provides an athletic finish.
M Carbon bucket seats.
The M Carbon bucket seat with illuminated M4 logo combines the lightness and racing character of a bucket seat with the range of functions of an M Sport seat. Its contouring offers perfect side support and excellent long distance comfort. It is compatible with multipoint harnesses and therefore fully suitable for racing.
M Carbon steering wheel.
The M Carbon steering wheel provides a racing feel. The carbon-fibre trim strips in the spokes surround the operating elements and complement the high-quality feel of the steering wheel. The racing-tested material fits the dynamically designed interior visually, too.

Thanks to the use of various materials, M Compound brakes achieve outstanding deceleration values, are extremely stable and weigh less. The brake calipers in Blue high-gloss with M lettering lend this high-performance brake system a distinctly sporty appearance.

The Adaptive M suspension can be electrically adjusted at any time to suit the road and driving conditions. You can also adjust the suspension characteristics via the Driving Experience Control to enable your preferred driving style at the time – from comfortable to extremely athletic with markedly agile handling.
Variable sport steering.
The Variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.
M sport differential.
The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
Steptronic Sports Transmission.
The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission offers incredibly sporty gear changes. Whether automatic or manual using the selector lever or gearshift paddles – for comfortable coasting or incredibly dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the selector lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for the maximum performance.
M Sport brake.
The M Sport brake has four-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear in Blue metallic with the M logo and features large brake discs to ensure an outstanding braking performance. Adapted to the vehicle's very high dynamic potential, it also allows an exceptional athletic driving style and excellent braking on wet surfaces.

The M specific instrument cluster* offers a particularly precise and focused display of driving data in the SPORT and TRACK modes. In this way, values such as boost pressure or tyre pressure and temperatures are always in view, even on the race track. Operation and configuration is carried out using the M MODE button on the control unit in the centre console. *Available for BMW M4 Competition Coupé and BMW M4 Coupé.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation function includes two high-quality displays consisting of a high-resolution 10.25" Control Display that can be operated by touch and a fully digital 12.3" instrument display. The BMW Operating System 7 can also be operated via the iDrive Touch Controller.
M Setup.
The M Setup* allows you to configure various driving dynamics parameters such as engine, transmission and steering characteristics, damper settings, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) control intensity or the power distribution of the optional M xDrive* all-wheel-drive system according to your individual requirements. *M Setup is available for BMW M4 Competition Coupé and BMW M4 Coupé; M xDrive is expected to be available in summer 2021.
Integrated M specific braking system
In addition to saving approximately 2 kg in weight, the integrated M specific braking system of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé and BMW M4 Coupé provides very high braking dynamics. For a maximum level of individualisation, the driver can choose between “Comfort” and “Sport” brake pedal parameters according to the situation. Depending on the parameters, the response behavior is designed differently. In “Sport” mode, deceleration is higher with the same distance of pedal travel particularly at low speeds while the response of the two parameter settings is very similar at high speeds.
BMW Head-Up Display.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M specific functions* projects information relevant for the journey directly into your field of vision. With the press of a button, the driver can switch to the M specific display, which includes a gear indicator, the rpm as a dynamic range curve with shift lights indicating the optimal moment to shift as well as navigation tips. *M specific functions are available for BMW M4 Competition Coupé and BMW M4 Coupé.
Centre console control panel.
In the easy-to-reach centre console control panel, the M MODE* button below the Start/Stop button allows you to change the contents of the display. The SETUP* button offers even more choice for configuring the vehicle characteristics. It opens the menu for individual adjustments to the driving dynamics. Red Start/Stop button.
The red Start/Stop button* allows the engine to be started without using the key once the vehicle has been unlocked. It can also be used to stop the engine.
